TEXAS MONTHLY

Editorial Design,
Art Direction and Production

Texas Monthly is an award-winning magazine that covers life in Texas. It’s distributed every month with a combined audience of more than 34.6 million.

My Role: Art Assistant, Associate Assistant Designer

Team: Five Members

The Boots Issue
Created multiple magazine issues like the 2019 December Boots Issue exploring the art and culture surrounding the official footwear of Texas, the cowboy boot.

I collaborated with a team of five on various print and digital production and design tasks, pre-photo shoot workflows and on-set photoshoot prepping, organizing, and styling. I also performed magazine production responsibilities like ensuring files were in the correct file format, photo retouching for web and print, and facilitating soft proofing.
Timeline: 3 weeks per issue

Online Series
I produced multiple online series, like Bedtime Stories and TM Happy Hour which offered readers a virtual escape during the pandemic. I collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate workflows, create subtle animations, and prepare images for various digital screens. Additionally, I handled video editing responsibilities as needed.

Texas History
I sourced a variety of freelance illustrators to provide art for stories that ran online. For example, Texas History is an insightful series sharing in-depth knowledge of Texas history not covered in classrooms.
